As an extension to body massage treatment, areas such
as the back and legs - that generally have more muscle - can be worked
on at a deeper level using techniques employing forearms, elbows and
fists.
The therapy may be uncomfortable at times but should
not be painful. It involves the application of deep, often slow,
controlled massage strokes, as well as precise pressure and frictions to
the soft tissues.
The aim is to release the chronic patterns of tension
in the body that can build up over time, through repetitive strain or an
active physical lifestyle.
In addition to the usual benefits of massage, the
treatment is also helpful for:
- breaking down scar tissue
- any painful, rigid points in muscles
- improving range of movement in joints
- improving posture and mobility
It can be especially beneficial for chronically tense
and contracted areas such as :
- stiff necks
- low back tightness
- sore shoulders
